SYNOPSIS:

HUMPHREY pines for PHILIPPA, but his advances have fallen on deaf ears because Philippa cannot be married without her mother’s approval. After her mother’s (MILDRED) passing, Philippa prays that she left her diamond-encrusted ring to one of Philippa’s suitors as a sign of consent. Disguised as a gravedigger, Humphrey tunnels to Mildred’s casket to steal the ring but, only moments after exhuming her corpse, finds himself trapped with the body when the tunnel caves in. Mildred comes back to life, and Humphrey must make his case as to why he belongs with Philipa. Meanwhile, Philippa watches over the grave to shoo away ‘fisherman’ (body snatchers) with HULME - her mother’s old friend and the cemetery patrolman who gradually reveals that he might be Philiipa’s father.
